The Martin Institute for Peace Studies and Conflict resolution is an inter-disciplinary research, teaching, and service center at the University of Idaho. It was founded for the purposes of advancing research and teaching into the causes of conflict and peaceful resolution.

The research focus is on global conflict and policy issues.

The education component consists of administration of an interdisciplinary undergraduate major in International studies including offering courses, speakers, and other special programs on the topics of conflict and peace.

The outreach component consists of a number of Martin Forums held during the academic year which bring specialists on international issues to UI and inform the students, faculty, and community on contemporary interests.

Also affiliated with the Martin Institute is the William Edgar Borah Outlawry of War Foundation, named for a former U.S. Senator from Idaho. Supported by a separate endowment, the Borah Foundation shares a related mission with the Martin Institute. The Martin Institute Director serves as Staff Director for the Borah Foundation Committee. The Martin Institute is located in the Administration Building on the University of Idaho campus. The staff consists of a Director and a Program Advisor. Current information on personnel can be found in our staff roster. If you would like more information about the Martin Institute, please contact us by:
