The conference was moved from April to November to avoid numerous conflicts with other statewide conferences in Idaho and Washington. The Security Council, the General Assembly Plenary, and UNICEF were modeled. A new feature of the PNMUN was also introduced: special crisis situations organized Friday evening for interested delegations. The PNMUN staff chose to present an impending crisis involving Morocco, Mauritania, and Spain in Western Sahara. The Idaho Falls students involved in the Crisis Simulation received updates and interviewed expert witnesses regarding the situation. First Conference: April 20-21, 2001The First Annual PNMUN Conference was held on April 20-21, 2001. Delegates from four high schools attended: Idaho Falls, Prairie, and St. Maries from Idaho, and Pullman from Washington. The General Assembly 1st Committee, Security Council, UN Commission on Human Rights, and UN High Commission on Refugees were modeled. The award for the top delegation went to the Idaho Falls delegates representing the Ukraine. |
